By Reading This You Agree To Overthrow Dictators

At the inauguration day, January 20, 2017, Artist Speak Out against fascism at the Whitney museum, I premiered a conceptual artwork before I spoke. I held a sign bearing the text: “By reading this, you agree to overthrow dictators.” The artwork can exist in any form — a sign, handwritten text, spray paint, a sticker, an email signature, a Facebook post, etc. The font, size, layout, etc. does not matter. It is open source. A stencil for the artwork is above. Feel free to share or use as you see fit. A PDF of the sign from the Whitney Action is available for download here.

The work is part of a collaborative print portfolio with the Graduate Print Seminar at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. The other part of the project is a print: “Conspiring to Cut off the King’s Head.” The print only exists as a print in this one form. It is screen print with letter press, 14 x 11 inches. An unsigned set of 3 stickers with the “Overthrow Dictators” text is also part of the portfolio.
