Goddam

Goddam is a suite of screen prints on canvas. They are inspired by Nina Simone and use specific songs as their point of departure. Visually the works reference Andy Warhol’s prints on canvas. Most of the prints are 56 x 84 inches. The two of the four “Pirate Jenny” prints use leaf under half of the image. Pirate Jenny (Gold), uses gold leaf and Pirate Jenny (Silver) has sliver leaf. I Wish I Knew How it Would Feel to Be Free is 84 x 68 inches and is a body print with screen print, gold leaf, tar and feathers. The body print in this work utilized a technique made popular by David Hammons.
